Pilot tone transmission mutes the receiver when no valid transmitter signal is present, preventing unwanted noise and interference bursts during changeovers. The half-rack receiver uses frequency range optimised antennas that are detachable, so aerials can be relocated or replaced with remote-mount options in rack installations. The HT420 transmitter runs from a single AA dry or rechargeable cell and carries charging contacts for use with AKG rechargeable systems, with a low battery warning indicator giving advance notice before a set.
