The Audio-Technica U891RB is a low-profile cardioid condenser boundary microphone designed for lecterns, conference tables and altars where the microphone must stay visually discreet while still delivering intelligible speech pickup. It suits AV integrators and facility managers specifying fixed installations, and venue engineers who need a reliable talker microphone that users can operate without touching a fader.

The capsule is mounted in a flat plate housing so it works into the boundary surface, using the reflected energy of the table or lectern top rather than fighting it, which reduces comb filtering and improves gain before feedback compared with a free-standing element. The cardioid pattern rejects audience noise and side-wash from nearby loudspeakers. A touch-operated capacitive switch replaces mechanical hardware, so there is no mechanical click through the system, and an integrated LED gives the talker clear visual confirmation of status. The microphone forms part of Audio-Technica's UniPoint installation range, so it shares the same control and wiring conventions as other UniPoint lectern and gooseneck models.
