The AKG PZM6D is a compact pressure zone boundary microphone that mounts flush to any hard surface to capture a natural, hemispherical image of the sound field in front of it. It suits engineers and integrators who need discreet, reliable pickup of orchestras, instruments, spoken word or conference tables without a visible stand or boom in the sightline.

The pressure zone principle places the capsule within the boundary layer of the mounting surface, so direct and reflected sound arrive in phase and the comb filtering that affects conventional microphones near a reflective plane is avoided. The result is consistent tonality regardless of source position within the hemisphere, and useful reach for its size. Output is balanced and low impedance for long cable runs into consoles, stageboxes and installed DSP, and the small metal housing is built for permanent installation and repeated handling on stage floors, lids, lecterns and tables.
