DESCRIPTION
The AKG K812 is an open-back, over-ear reference headphone built for critical listening where the smallest detail matters. It is aimed at mastering and mixing engineers, broadcast monitoring staff and musicians who need an honest picture of a mix rather than a flattering one. This unit is ex demo.
At its centre is a 53 mm transducer driven by a 1.5 Tesla magnet system with a two-layer voice coil, giving high dynamic capability and low distortion across a frequency range of 5 Hz to 54 kHz. A 36 ohm rated impedance and 110 dB SPL/V sensitivity mean the K812 will run from a competent headphone amplifier or interface output without needing extreme drive voltage. The open-mesh headband and 3D-shaped slow-retention ear pads distribute weight over long sessions, and the pads are replaceable when they wear.
