The AKG K72 is a closed-back, over-ear headphone built for tracking, monitoring and general studio duties where isolation matters. Its sealed earcups keep click tracks and cue mixes out of open microphones, making it a practical choice for project studios, broadcast booths, rehearsal rooms and education facilities issuing headphones in quantity.

A 40 mm driver covers 16 Hz to 20 kHz, giving enough low-frequency extension to judge kick and bass while keeping the midrange clear for vocal takes. At 32 ohms rated impedance and 112 dB SPL/V sensitivity, the K72 reaches usable levels from headphone amplifiers, mixer cue outputs, interfaces and portable recorders alike. The self-adjusting headband removes the need for manual sizing between users, and the 200 g weight keeps long sessions comfortable. Ear pads are replaceable, which matters in shared or installed environments where wear is inevitable.
