DESCRIPTION
The AKG K702 is an open-back, over-ear reference headphone built for critical listening: mixing, mastering, editing and monitoring where an unhoused, uncoloured picture of the source matters more than isolation. The open architecture gives a wide, natural soundstage and low resonance, making it a dependable second reference alongside studio monitors for engineers, editors and producers.
Each pair uses 45 mm transducers with flat-wire voice coils and AKG's Varimotion two-layer diaphragm, coupled to a 10 Hz - 39.8 kHz frequency range for accurate transient detail. At 62 ohms rated impedance and 105 dB SPL/V sensitivity, the K702 drives cleanly from interface and console headphone outputs as well as dedicated headphone amplifiers. The detachable 3 m cable terminates in a locking mini-XLR at the earcup, so a damaged lead is replaced rather than the headphone, and the genuine leather headband with replaceable 3D-foam ear pads supports long sessions at a 235 g weight.
