The dbx DI1 is a compact active direct box that converts unbalanced, high-impedance instrument and line-level sources into a balanced, low-impedance microphone-level signal suitable for any mixing console or stagebox input. It is aimed at engineers and players who need a dependable interface for guitars, basses, keyboards, playback devices and other Hi-Z sources on stage, in the studio or on the road.

Active circuitry provides consistent gain and impedance matching regardless of cable run, preserving the top-end detail and low-frequency weight that passive designs can lose with reactive pickups. The DI1 draws its operating current from console phantom power or an internal 9-volt battery, with an LED indicator confirming which supply is active so faults are identified before soundcheck. The chassis is built to survive repeated load-ins, making it equally at home in a rack drawer or a touring accessory case.
