The AKG D5CS is a handheld dynamic vocal microphone with a cardioid polar pattern and an on/off switch, built for lead and backing vocals from small club stages through to large concert halls. It suits vocalists, front-of-house engineers and AV crews who need a robust, high-SPL capable handheld that performs consistently night after night.

The cardioid pattern rejects sound from the rear of the capsule, improving gain before feedback with wedge monitors and keeping spill from nearby sources under control. A dual shock mount isolates the capsule from the body to suppress handling noise, while an integrated pop filter tames plosives and wind noise without an external screen. The spring-steel wire-mesh grille resists the knocks of touring, and the local switch lets performers mute at the microphone rather than relying on the console.
