DESCRIPTION
The AKG D12VR is a reference-quality large-diaphragm dynamic microphone built for kick drum, bass cabinets and other low-frequency sources. Its cardioid pattern and thin, low-mass diaphragm capture weight and attack without the boom that plagues lesser dynamics, making it a dependable choice for engineers tracking drums in the studio or covering kick duties night after night on a touring rig.
The capsule follows the lineage of the original C414-era AKG D12, updated with an active electronics stage powered by 48 V phantom. Three switchable passive filters shape the response at source: a low-frequency boost for added weight, a presence lift for beater definition, and a combined setting for both. With phantom power removed the microphone reverts to fully passive operation, so it remains usable on any console or preamp. The die-cast body and integrated stand mount stand up to close placement inside a kick drum and to repeated rigging.
- Large-diaphragm dynamic capsule with cardioid polar pattern
- Thin, lightweight diaphragm optimised for low-frequency transient response
- Three switchable passive filter presets for bass boost, presence lift or both
- Active electronics via 48 V phantom power, with passive operation when phantom is unavailable
- High SPL handling suited to close-miking kick drums and bass cabinets
Well suited to studio tracking, live events, touring and broadcast production where consistent low-end capture is required.
