DESCRIPTION
The AKG D112 MkII is a large-diaphragm dynamic microphone built specifically for bass drum, bass cabinets and other high-SPL low-frequency sources. It is the tool engineers reach for when a kick needs weight and attack without extensive corrective EQ, and it suits front-of-house engineers, studio recordists and installers specifying a reliable, repeatable kick sound.
The large diaphragm tracks low frequencies accurately, while a tuned bass resonance chamber gives the microphone its characteristic punch in the low end and definition through the beater attack. An integrated hum-compensation coil keeps induced noise from nearby lighting rigs, transformers and stage power to a minimum, which matters when the microphone sits inside a drum shell surrounded by cabling. The MkII adds an integrated flexible mount, so the capsule can be positioned inside a kick drum or close to a speaker cone and locked off without a separate clip or adaptor. Construction follows AKG's road-going standards for touring and hire stock.
- Large-diaphragm dynamic capsule optimised for accurate low-frequency reproduction
- Bass resonance volume chamber for a punchy, defined kick drum tone
- Integrated flexible mount for fast, repeatable positioning without extra hardware
- Hum-compensation coil to reject electromagnetic interference on stage
- The industry benchmark for bass drum capture for more than 30 years
Well suited to live events, touring, studio and rehearsal work, houses of worship, theatre and broadcast music production.
