The AKG CGN99H-L is a 50 cm gooseneck condenser microphone with a hypercardioid polar pattern, intended for lecterns, pulpits and conference tables where the talker sits at a consistent distance and off-axis noise must be kept out of the mix. The tighter hypercardioid pickup gives more usable gain before feedback than a cardioid capsule in rooms with foldback or nearby loudspeakers.

It forms part of AKG's 99ER Series of installed gooseneck microphone kits, so the capsule, gooseneck and mounting hardware are designed to work as a system with matched preamp modules and lectern or table mounts. The 50 cm length places the capsule close to the talker without obstructing sightlines or documents. The gooseneck holds its position under repeated adjustment, and the slim black finish keeps the microphone visually discreet on camera and under stage lighting.
