The AKG C518ML is a miniature clamp-on condenser microphone designed for close-miking drums, percussion and brass. Its cardioid capsule sits on a short flexible gooseneck so the diaphragm can be aimed precisely at the head, shell or bell, giving engineers a consistent, isolated signal without a forest of stands around the kit. It suits drum techs, live sound engineers and studio and broadcast operators who need repeatable placement in tight positions.

The integrated clamp fits directly to drum hoops and percussion rims, taking the microphone out of the performer's way and keeping the capsule locked in position through an entire set. The output is a 3-pin mini-XLR, which allows the microphone to be plugged straight into a bodypack wireless transmitter for cable-free kits, or run to a phantom power adapter for a conventional XLR input on a console or interface. Construction follows AKG's instrument microphone range, with a metal capsule housing and a gooseneck that holds its set angle under vibration.
