The AKG C414XLS is a multi-pattern large-diaphragm condenser built around the linear, neutral character of the classic C414 B-ULS. It is a reference-grade capture tool for engineers who need one microphone to cover vocals, acoustic instruments, drum overheads, piano and room ambience with predictable, uncoloured results.

Nine selectable polar patterns give precise control over pickup and room rejection, while three switchable bass-cut filters and three pre-attenuation pads let the capsule sit correctly in front of anything from a soft vocal to a close-miked brass bell. A peak-hold LED indicates overload down to 1/500th of a second, and a lock mode disables the control switches so settings survive a session or a fixed install. Each capsule is individually measured, and every C414XLS is matched to within 1 dB, making stereo and multi-microphone arrays straightforward to assemble.

  • Nine polar patterns: omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, hypercardioid, figure-8 and four intermediate settings
  • Switchable bass-cut filters at 40 Hz, 80 Hz and 160 Hz
  • Pre-attenuation pads of −6 dB, −12 dB and −18 dB for up to 158 dB SPL handling
  • 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range with 6 dB-A equivalent noise
  • Supplied with H85 shock mount, PF80 pop filter, W414 windscreen and metal carrying case
