DESCRIPTION
The AKG C414 XLII is a large-diaphragm reference condenser microphone built around the sonic character of the classic AKG C12, delivering a lifted upper midrange and treble presence that keeps vocals and solo instruments forward in a dense mix. It suits recording engineers, broadcast facilities and installers who need one dependable microphone across a wide range of sources.
A dual 1-inch gold-sputtered diaphragm capsule feeds transformerless electronics with an extremely low noise floor, so quiet room tone and distant sources stay clean. Nine selectable polar patterns, switchable bass-cut filters and pre-attenuation pads are set from the microphone body, with a lock mode that disables the controls once a setting is dialled in and a peak-hold LED that flags transient overload during tracking. The supplied H85 shock mount, PF80 pop filter, W414 windscreen and metal carrying case make it ready for studio or location use.
- Nine selectable polar patterns, including omnidirectional, cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-eight
- Three switchable bass-cut filters at 40 Hz, 80 Hz and 160 Hz
- Three pre-attenuation pads of −6 dB, −12 dB and −18 dB for sources up to 158 dB SPL
- Self-noise of just 6 dB-A with 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response
- Peak-hold LED overload indicator and lock mode to protect chosen settings
Well suited to studio tracking, broadcast voice work, theatre and installation applications where consistent, detailed capture is required.
