The AKG C214 is a cardioid large-diaphragm condenser microphone built around a 1" edge-terminated capsule, delivering the open, detailed character associated with AKG's reference studio designs at a price point that suits working engineers and project studios. It is well suited to lead vocals, solo instruments, ensemble recording and drum overheads.

The capsule is mounted on an integrated suspension system that isolates it from mechanical and structural noise, while a rugged double mesh grille provides high RF immunity without colouring the acoustic response. A switchable 20 dB attenuation pad extends usable headroom for close-miked drums, brass and guitar cabinets, and the low-cut switch controls proximity effect and stage rumble. The all-metal die-cast body carries a shock- and scratch-resistant finish, making it durable enough for stage and location work as well as fixed studio use.
