The AKG C1000S is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone built for engineers who need one dependable capsule to cover vocals, acoustic instruments, drum overheads, brass and speech reinforcement. Now in its fourth edition, it remains a practical first choice for freelance engineers, installers and musicians who cannot carry a specialist microphone for every source.

It is one of the few condensers that will run either from standard phantom power or from internal AA batteries, so it works with consoles, interfaces, portable recorders and field mixers that offer no 48 V supply. A switchable bass-cut filter and a −10 dB pad handle proximity effect and high sound pressure sources, while two supplied adapters change the microphone's character: a presence-boost element with three frequency settings, and a converter that shifts the polar response from cardioid to hyper-cardioid for tighter off-axis rejection on stage. Gold-sputtered components resist corrosion in humid rooms and outdoor work.
