What sets the OC818 apart is its Open Acoustics Technology (OAT), which captures the full acoustic signal from both capsule membranes simultaneously. Combined with the optional OCR8 Bluetooth module and the free PolarDesigner plug-in, engineers gain complete polar pattern control in post-production — a powerful tool for optimising recordings after the session.

On the microphone body, four switchable polar patterns — cardioid, wide cardioid, figure-8, and omnidirectional — provide versatile pickup options for any source. A selectable high-pass filter and pad further extend its flexibility.
